Elder Board

Walnut Hill Bible Church is governed by a Board of Elders. These Elders shall be men who are marked by mature judgment, unquestioned Christian character, loyalty to the Word of God, devotion to the Lord Jesus Christ, and lives which reflect the tenets of the office as outlined in I Timothy 3:2-7, Titus 1:6-9, and I Peter 5:1-11. Elders, in bearing the responsibility for the spiritual welfare of the Church, must be able to collectively discern the will of God by means of Bible study, prayer, meditation, fasting, and subsequent corporate discussion.

The duties of the Elders shall be to:

* Maintain a written and current definition of the purpose, scope, and responsibilities of each Church ministry over which a Deaconate member presides. * Provide the vision for their assigned Segment Ministries, which is to be homologous to the overall vision, direction, and purpose of the Church as defined by the Advisory Board. This will be accomplished by maintaining communication with the members of the Deaconate whose ministries fall within their Segment Ministries, prayerfully supporting, encouraging, and counseling them so that the maximum spiritual effectiveness of their ministries might be attained. Discussion of the work and resolution of significant issues that arise from each Segment Ministry shall be undertaken at monthly Elder Board meetings.

* Assist the Senior Pastor in sustaining meetings for public worship.
* Admonish when necessary.
* Consult with prospective memebers.
* Assist in serving the Lord's Table.
* Arrange for spiritually qualified men to fill the pulpit in the absence of the Senior Pastor.
* Maintain the spiritual well being of the Church.
* Oversee, during the first month after each First Quarterly Church Business Meeting, the revision of the church membership roll according to the provisions of Constitutional Article V-Membership, Section 2.
