Baptism & Communion (back to top)

Communion

At Walnut Hill we typically receive the Lord's supper together on the first Sunday morning of each month and on other appropriate occasions such as Thanksgiving, Maundy Thursday and Christmas or New Years eve services. We believe our Lord ordained the taking of communion as a way of keeping the truths that the Lord's Supper embody before us. We practice open Communion, meaning that one must not be a member of Walnut Hill to participate with us, but must be a Christian. We believe people are Christians by virtue of their living faith in God through Jesus Christ as evidenced by the indwelling presence of the Holy Spirit.

Baptism

At Walnut Hill we believe that all Christians should be baptized, as per the teaching of our Lord in Matthew 28:18-20, after they have placed their faith in God through Jesus Christ and received the gift of the Holy Spirit. We believe baptism is an initiatory rite for these new disciples (followers of Christ) that reinforce foundational truths of the Christian faith. It is the Baptism of the Holy Spirit that seals us, or marks us as belonging to God. It is water baptism that is the outward expression of that inner, indwelling and divine reality. We baptize people publicly by immersion either here at the church or at a local lake or river. Because baptism is a powerful and vivid symbol of spiritual cleansing, death and resurrection we strongly prefer full immersion as the very best mode of water baptism. Immersion is also the only biblical model we see in the New Testament.

This dedicated group of volunteers meets weekly for rehearsals to enjoy fellowship and fun through the gifts God has given us. Contact Tyson for more information.

Ushers & Greeters (back to top)

Worship Tech (back to top)
In order for people to understand the message on a Sunday morning, they need to hear it. That's the job of our sound techs. This committed group of trained individuals is always striving to make each service the best it can be. If you haven't noticed the soundman doing his job during the service, that's a good thing. If you are interested in being trained for the Tech ministries, contact Tyson.

Youth Praise Team (back to top)
Our Youth Praise Team is known as the "Flames Band." II Timothy 1:6 tells us to "Fan into Flame the gift of God." The purpose of the team is to train and raise up future music leaders in the church; giving them the tools and skills it takes to lead an effective music mininstry - as if we are fanning the flames.

This commited group of youth facilitates the contemporary worship music for Sunday worship service once per month.  Contact Tyson to learn more or to get involved.
