John and Brooke both grew up in Baraboo, WI. They met in 1998 and married  in 1999 when they both started attending John's home church, Walnut Hill.  Both became believers and felt a "pull" to mission work at a very young age.  John worked at Camp Forest Springs for many years before they got married which fueled his passion for the camping ministries.  In the summer of 2001 God led John and Brooke to volunteer at Camp Redcloud for the summer.  

The timing wasn't right then but in 2004, God again called them but this time to full-time missions.  They sold many of their possessions and moved their family, which now included a son, Ethan, to Lake City, Colorado at Camp Redcloud. Camp redcloud is about an hour and 15 minutes from "civilization" where we find a small town of about 5000 people.  The Camp sits at about 9300 feet above sea level surrounded by the mountains and many frontiers.

John Spent the first two years as the head cook/ food service director. God then moved him into an area that is more his specialty; Wilderness Program Director. In this position, he organizes and books groups to come on backpack trips or basecamps; hires staff and councelors; trains the staff; disciples the staff so they can in turn minister to the campers.

The Wilderness Adventure Program provides challenging wilderness adventures for Jr and Sr High, College, adult and family groups. These adventures are facilitated by our guides in group settings as small as 3 and up to 50! The Gospel of Jesus Christ and Life-changing Biblical principles are clearly presented and intergraded into a wilderness setting that challenges campers physically, mentally, socially and emotionally in order to impact this generation with a biblical foundation of leadership. While using the widerness adventures, we rely on God's strength and the direction of the Holy Spirit in our relationships as we Equip through God's Word.

Camp Redcloud was raised up by God in 1981 to be a christian camp that would minister year-round to the kids of Western Colorado and beyond.  Our mission is to glorigy God by making disciples of Jesus Christ who will in turn grow and serve in their local churches.  Running simultaneously with the Wilderness Adventures are 5 other camping programs, including our resident program, horse camp, family camp, Teens in training and rock camps.
