HOW TO PRAY:
• For a close walk with the Lord.
• For strong family bonds and safety for Terrell as he travels.
• For Mary as she ministers to women.
• For many internationals to trust the Lord Jesus and grow in Him.
Bio:
Terrell Smith has served on staff with InterVarsity Christian Fellowship since 1971. InterVarsity Christian Fellowship, established in 1941, is a campus mission serving more than 35,000 students and faculty on more than 560 college and university campuses nationwide. InterVarsity has a rich tradition of campus witness, thoughtful discipleship, and a concern for our world. Terrell studied at the University of California, Berkeley, during the tumultious 60's, and graduated with a degree in Geology. After a short time working for Chevron Oil making geological maps of the far east, Terrell served as a Campus Intern with InterVarsity Christian Fellowship in California visiting three schools. He then moved to Wisconsin in 1971 as a regular Campus Staff Member, staffing and pioneering InterVarsity Christian Fellowship groups on more than 15 campuses. In 1978 he joined the International Fellowship of Evangelical Students (IFES) staff and moved to Germany, where he visited 40 groups, pioneered the international student work in Germany (including a hospitality program for international students), and helped pioneer international student ministry in Switzerland, Norway, and other countries. Terrell and his lovely wife Mary were married in 1979; their three children were born in Germany. In 1989, Terrell authored "Die Welt vor deiner Haustür" (The World at Your Doorstep), published in German. He also contributed to "Passport to the Bible" and other InterVarsity Press books. Recently, Terrell and his family taught English and American Culture for two months in Mainland China. Terrell has served as a Campus Intern, Campus Staff Member, Team-Leader, IFES staff, ISM-staff, Global Project staff in China, national Training Coordinator for ISM, Director of the International Students Track at Urbana '06, and Acting Director of International Student Ministries of InterVarsity Christian Fellowship. He is an author, trainer, pioneer, evangelist, speaker, web site designer, photographer, enjoys computers and plays a mean game of ping pong. Terrell's greatest joy is explaining the Good News about Jesus to interested international students.
