For the past two decades, Ed and Jean Muehlfelt have had the privilege of installing and maintaining radio, TV, and telephone
sites in the commercial industry. In 1994, they provided technical training to a group of radio missionaries on a remote island. They quickly fell in love with short-term missions and continued to use yearly vacation time to help mission radio stations around the world.
Their particular experience in radio was extremely unique and rare, and they decided to finish their earthly lives very differently than most couples. Instead of retiring, they joined other missionaries full-time on the mission field. In 2002, they joined the HCJB World Radio Engineering Center full-time. They auctioned off their personal items, sold their home in Baraboo, Wisconsin and moved to Elkhart, Indiana.
They are currently part of two radio partnership programs - Radio Planting and World by Radio. When a partner of HCJB World Radio needs a new radio station or maintenance done on an existing installation, Ed and Jean pack their equipment suitcases and head to other countries. Sometimes, existing stations are subject to natural disasters and in need of immediate repair and restoration. This couple has the ability to pack the essentials and head for the airport.
"Our tower work", says Ed, "is very dangerous and keeps us away from home months at a time. We would never have attempted full-time mission work without God's direction and our sending church, Walnut Hill Bible Church. We know that Christian radio makes a major impact throughout the world, and God will continue to use all of us to make a difference in the unreached areas of the world."
Ed and Jean Muehlfelt have been members of Walnut Hill Bible Church for the past 19 years. When they're in the USA, they can be reached at:
